Birth in Reverse

Here’s a little something different from the likes of Annie Clark’s angular, post-everything rock band, St.  Vincent. In this live in-studio rendition of “Birth in Reverse,” off the band’s 2015 self-titled release, Ms. Clark and her team of technically imaginative musicians bring a whole new meaning to guitar performance. From the stop-on-a-dime riffs to punchy, dissonant feedback squelches, this song is bursting at the seams with energy. While seemingly on the verge chaos, Ms. Clark never loses control, striking each note with precision and purpose. No amount of guitar lessons can teach the creativity that inspires these songs, but we can all aspire in awe in the presence of a true guitar innovator.
